AMBER GUFFEY
Assistant Coach

AT MSU

  • Begins her first season as an assistant coach in 2017-18

PRIOR TO MSU

  • Spent two seasons at Murray High School as an assistant
  • Helped lead the Tigers to the 2016 All-A State championship
  • The Tigers also won a pair of All-A Region titles, back-to-back District 4 championships and made appearances in the KHSAA Final Four in 2016 and 2017 under Guffey
  • MHS compiled a record of 63-8 in Guffey's two seasons
  • Guffey also coached a pair of all-state players while at MHS

PLAYING CAREER

  • Three-time All-OVC selection at MSU
  • Named to the OVC All-Tournament Team three times
  • OVC Tournament MVP in 2008
  • 2008-09 Women's BAsketball Academic All-American of the Year
  • Three-time Academic All-District honoree
  • Third all-time in program history with 1,877 career points
  • All-time leader in career assists (512), free throws made (587), games played (123) and minutes played (3,873) at MSU
  • Also ranks second all-time in career 3-pointers made with 210
  • Second in career free-throw percentage, shooting at a clip of 87.1 percent
  • 2017 Murray State Hall of Fame inductee
  • Played profesionally overseas in Luxembourg with Residence DeWalferdangre

  • Native of Albany, Ky.
  • Graduated from Murray State in 2009 with a degree in health and physical education
 

JAUWAN SCAIFE
Assistant Coach

BEFORE MSU

  • Is in his first season with the Murray State women's program in 2018-19.
  • Spent the 2017-18 season at Evansville as an assistant coach where he also served as the recruiting coordinator and worked primarily with the perimeter players.
  • Was an assistant at Southeast Missouri for two seasons (2015-17). In his first season with the Redhawks, they advanced to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament for the first time in seven seasons.
  • At Evansville and SEMO, Scaife had a part in the development of All-Missouri Valley Conference Honorable Mention selection Kerri Gasper and All-OVC pick Brianna Mitchell.
  • From 2013-15, Scaife was the graduate assistant and video coordinator at Ball State with the men's program, where he also spent his playing career from 2009-13.
  • As a student-athlete with the Cardinals, Scaife finished his career 14thon the all-time career-scoring list at BSU, finishing with 1,326 points. He was a Second Team All-Mid America Conference selection his senior season (2012-13) and set the program record for most career 3-pointers made with 203 in the final game of his career.

PERSONAL

  • Graduated in 2012 with his Bachelor's Degree in sports administration from Ball State.
  • Earned a Master's from Ball State in 2013 in physical education with a specialization in coaching.
 

MONICA EVANS
Assistant Coach

AT MSU

  • Begins her first season at Murray State as an assistant in 2017-18

PRIOR TO MSU

  • Spent 20 seasons as an assistant coach at Murray High School
  • While at MHS, Evans helped lead the Tigers to the All-A State championship in 2016
  • State runner-up finish in 2015
  • The Tigers won 12 All-A Region championships under Evans
  • MHS won five District 4 titles and three Region 1 championships while Evans was there
  • Helped lead the Tigers to back-to-back KHSAA Final Four appearances
  • Coached three all-state players while at MHS
  • "Monica will be instrumental in building relationships with players," said head coach Rechelle Turner. "She is a very caring, nurturing and selfless coach that always puts others before herself. She is the perfect example of servant leadership that we want all of our players to embrace. Monica is a tireless worker that will set the example of hard-work and going above and beyond to our players. I am extremely blessed to have Monica join us."
